Principles Of Child Neurology
Bruce O. Berg
Principles of Child Neurology is a comprehensive textbook on the diagnosis and management of neurologic disorders affecting neonates, infants, children, and adolescents.
Patterned after Adams and Victor's Principles of Neurology, this text begins with ``Approach to the Patient,'' then details the cardinal manifestations and the major disease categories for diagnosing pediatric neurologic disorders.

This book is the first edition of a multiauthored volume on child neurology. The purposes in developing this text were twofold: to provide a companion volume to Adams and Victor's Principles of Neurology and to authoritatively address the complexities of contemporary child neurology. There have been significant developments in the field of child neurology since Aicardi's Diseases of the Nervous System in Childhood was published in 1992. This book incorporates those advances in knowledge. Dr. Berg, who is emeritus director of child neurology at the University of California Medical Center, does not suggest a target audience for this book, although it would be an appropriate resource for pediatric neurologists, pediatricians, and neurologists. The illustrations are appropriate for the subject matter and include black-and-white photographs, radiographs, diagrams, and figures. References are current and pertinent; a deliberate choice was made to reference more accessible current references rather than original papers. The table of contents is well designed and the book's layout is uncluttered. This is an encyclopedic volume of child neurology in six parts following the traditional structure of Adams and Victor's text, written by authors who are established experts in their respective areas of expertise. It is useful as an overview of current thought and knowledge and as a starting point for further reading. This book would be a useful addition to the libraries of teaching institutions, especially those concerned with child neurology, and to the private libraries of child neurologists.
