Machotka, Pavel
This volume presents the results of a study on how painting expresses the artist's psychology. Machotka (UC-Santa Cruz) examined images produced by a broad sample of students and grouped the images into seven types using cluster analysis. The personality of each student was also studied in a long clinical interview. It was discovered that the style of the imagessuch as their inhibited formality, abstractness, or fluid boldnessreflected much of each participant's interior world.
