This Publication Focuses On The Use Of State-of-the-art Geographical Information Systems (gis) To Assess Mineral Resources Potential In The Greater Mekong Subregion. The Subregion Includes The States Of The Mekong River Delta, Namely Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar (burma), Thailand, Vietnam And Yunnan Province Of China. The Publication Consists Of Two Parts. Part One Consists Of Three International Studies, Which Give A Subregional Overview Of Integrated Assessment And Development Of Natural Resources And The Evaluation Of The Data Coverage, The Present Status Of Gis Applications For Resources Assessment, And Recommendations For Future Follow-up. Part Two Reviews The Resource Assessment Programmes Undertaken On A National Basis. The Exploration And Mining Activities Carried Out Presently By Foreign And Local Mining Companies Are Also Examined In Some Of The Country Reports.
